Wetlands and Wildlife

Some 70 hectares of wetlands and revegetation will be provided to extend the existing ecosystems. Designed on the natural characteristics of anabranch channels and existing wetlands, the new wetlands will provide quality treatment for water returning to the river and the growing conditions for a diverse range of native vegetation communities. Separated from the residential areas by water barriers and secure fencing, the wetland areas are expected to allow the re-establishment of a large range of native flora and fauna. Controlled access will permit walking trails through the wetlands interconnecting with other trails through the development and beyond to the Mannum town centre.
